Fowle Trophy

Two preliminary round robins between pre-seeded groups of six were completed to narrow the field down to eight teams. These eight teams then completed a round robin plus two flights. Breeze started from the ESE at 5-12 knots, gradually clocking right to the SSE and slowly fading as the day progressed. Tomorrow the hope is to complete a second round of eight followed by a championship round of six. A big thanks goes to the Umpires, Brooks Reed, Matt Knowles, Kerry Sullivan, Jeff Dusek, Doc Sullivan, Dan Litchfield, Alan Palmer, John Moulthrop, Jamie Ewing, Greg Kiely, Larry Sill and Chief Ump Jon Garrity. Also many thanks to all the Harvard team who helped run the event, BU for supplying sails and MIT for supplying seven boats. Thanks to the aforementioned schools for supplying umpire boats and the Harvard and Radcliffe crew programs for additional umpire boats.

The end of the gold round number 2 and the round of 6 were sailed today, in 3-8 knots ESE and shifty conditions. Congratulations to the Brown Bears for winning the championship, and to BC, Roger Williams and Yale for qualifying for Nationals. Thank you once again to all the umpires, who were joined today by Josh Leighton. Good luck at nationals.
