Women's SNE Team Race

Summary

Saturday, March 14:

Sailors were greeted with a windy Westrly this morning on the Thames River, which maintained throughout the day. Breeze shifted between the North and West, with puffs up to 20 kts and lulls ranging around 6 kts. Huge thank you to the umpires and the race committee for helping run a good day of sailing. Also, thank you, Bill Healy, for being the NESIA rep, and Yale for supplying one of the umpire boats. We will start with Brown v. Bowdoin Women's, followed by Conn v. Coast Guard Open, in order to complete the first round robin.

Sunday, March 15:

With a morning north breeze, we completed the last race in round 1. Afterwards, we attempted to get more races off for round 2, but some were called back due to wind conditions falling below the minimum. Attempts were made to set a course as the South and East fought each other, but were unsuccessful. The decision was made to move to a top 6, which we completed in a nicer South breeze that continued to veer East as the day went on. One sailoff took place against Brown and Yale. Congratulations to Yale for taking the win.

A huge thank you to all of our NESIA umpires for running a great event in the cold. Thank you to the Coast Guard for supplying an extra rudder for the event as well, and Yale for supplying an extra umpire boat. Again, thank you, Bill Healy, for being the NESIA representative for the event. The Camel undergraduates did a great job running races and helped set the course. Thank you, Camels.
