Cactus Cup

Summary

Saturday, February 28:

Saturday started with an extended postponement on the water as the wind shifted from north to south. Teams took advantage of the time and the heat to go swimming and enjoy the water! Wind started picking up and the first race started by 12:30 and wind sustained to complete 4 races in each division before retiring for the day. We had 26 boats on the line on Saturday, a new record for Cactus Cup! A fantastic dinner was provided by Joe and Bonnie Motil of the Arizona Yacht Club.

Sunday, March 1:

Sunday started early with enough breeze from the north to get two races off before postponement. Wind filled back in from the south before one pm and the day finished with an even two races for six in each division. Thank you to PRO Aidan Boylan and the Arizona Yacht Club for helping with race committee, mark set with Mitch Powers, pontoon boats for racing, and great food! Congratulations to UC Irvine, and thank you for everyone who came to sail in the desert with us!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
