The 2026 Aaron Szambecki Team Race started out with W winds at 5-10 knots under sunny skies. As the day progressed, the wind lightened and there was a pause in racing to wait for the wind. The breeze filled in at 8-16 knots from the North around 1pm. There was one request for redress due to a broken jib halyard in race 38, which was granted and re-sailed following round 1. In total, 53 races were completed.
ChUmp Christine Accetella and her umpire team kept the racing fair. The plan for Sunday is to start the day with race 54 and continue with the 2nd round robin.
The race day started on time with a shifty SSW 8-13kts. As it warmed into the upper 70s, the breeze became more unstable and racing stalled at noon. With the pause in racing the formate was amended to a full round robin and a top and bottom 5 finals. Breeze filled back in at 8 to 14 to finish racing.
