“The sea was angry that day my friends.”(G.C.) Wet, choppy, breezy and then windy today! The first round was completed today in 420E’s in a very steady easterly most of the day. After race 21, the fleet took a short break to give everyone on the water some rest and relaxation. From races 22-26, the breeze increased and became a little shiftier. And finally by the last race, Harvard v. Old Dominion, the breeze increased into the 20’s along with more rain and falling temps. Tomorrow we will start round 2 in FJ’s. First warning at 10am Navy v. Harvard.
Teams arrived at 9:30am to a scene from On Golden Pond. The Sound was glassy with light fog. At least the rain had moved on. As the day went on, it was obvious that a second round of all 8 teams was impossible so the decision was made to have a final 4 or maybe a double final 4. First a sail-off for the fourth spot was needed but there was no wind. Roger Williams and Dartmouth tried just before lunch but the wind didn't cooperate so they waited ashore until noon. Dartmouth was victorious and moved onto the final 4. The final four was sailed in a light but fairly stable southerly. Only one round of the finals was sailed due to time. Final results, Yale 9-1, Brown 7-3, Harvard 7-3, Dartmouth 4-6. Many thanks to Morgan Collins for being the regatta rep and to our fabulous Umpires: Moose McClintock, Marbella Marlo, Caleb Dorfman, Graham Landy, Eli Burns, Meredith Ryan, Chris Champa, Casey Klingler
