Southern 5 Saturday

Summary

Saturday, April 5:

A cool early spring day on the Salt Pond. Nine teams arrived to a light to moderate ESE breeze and an incoming tide. After a quick briefing, sailors made their way south to the upper pond for the first start just before noon. Five W4’s were sailed with 15 degree oscillations, making it crucial to connect the dots on this course. Velocity remained a variable 5-12 kts. Finishes were close at times, and the spread of the fleet became increasingly tighter as each team saw some improvement. In the end it was the RWU Hawks taking 1st place in a close battle with URI and Brown, who round out the podium in 2nd and 3rd respectively.

Well done to all competitors, and a special shoutout to the RC support crew and UNH Coach Diana Weidenbacker for help with score keeping and flag handling.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
