Frostbite conditions for day one of the NEISA Women's Team Race Championship for the Ken Legler Trophy, honoring one of College Sailing's all-time greatest coaches. We all really miss you Ken!
A round robin of all 10 teams, 45 races was sailed from 11:30am-4:30pm in a windy East/Northeasterly ranging from 12-18 knots with some gusts in the mid 20's. Temps were in the 30's with rain but felt like the teens out there. We used 420s only due to the windy conditions. The top 6 teams moved on to day two.
It was another chilly and wet day for day two of the NEISA Women's Team Race Championship for the Ken Legler Trophy. Temps were once again in the 30's but felt colder, some drizzle, and there were even a few passing snow clouds on the water producing snow. It started windy out of the Northeast at around 12-18 knots and slowly went left to the North all day with decreasing winds. By the end of the day the wind was down to 5-8 knots. Two Gold rounds were sailed, a top 6 and then a top 4, all in 420s. A break was given in between rounds for everyone to warm up. Great racing all weekend despite the cold weather and great attitudes by all of the competitors and coaches. A huge thank you to everyone who helped out: -Thank you to our great group of umpires who froze out there and kept the racing fair, led by Chief Umpire Julia Reynolds. Thank you to the umpire team of Megan Roach, John Mastrandrea, Alex Kitay, John Moultrop (Saturday), Neil Williamson, Jed Bell, and Taylor Eastman. -Thank you to all of Brown sailors who helped out on Race Committee: Vera Allen, Tucker Gibbs, Gabby Collins, Talia Levine, Anna Steffen, and Lily Shore (Brown '24). -Thank you to Richard Feeny for being the PRO on Saturday, getting in some practice to PRO the ICSA Team Race Nationals in less than two weeks at Brown. -Thank you to Justin Assad for being the NEISA Representative. -Thank you to Rob Migliaccio for taking awesome photos all weekend. -and finally, thank you to all of the teams who provided powerboats for the Race Committee and Umpires: Dartmouth College, Harvard University, the Moses Brown School, Roger Williams University, and Yale.
