Robert P. Arrigan Memorial Regatta

Summary

Saturday, April 30:

The Robert P. Arrigan Memorial Regatta named After Bobby Arrigan '88 at Georgetown has been a staple on the MAISA circuit for many years. Judge and Mrs. Arrigan were great supporters of the sailing team at Georgetown and this regatta was started as a way to remember their son Bobby who died tragically in the summer of his freshman year at Georgetown. Sadly both Judge and Mrs. Arrigan have recently passed away but the regatta will continue to be hosted in their sons memory.

This year we had 3 teams competing - Georgetown with six teams, Navy with 2 and St. Mary's with 1. The forecast was a little iffy but right around 1245PM a light ESE wind filled in the lagoon and no where else. We ran 5 races in a wind that never got above 7MPH. We took a quick break and then moved to the river for the final three races which saw a little more wind but a lot more current which made the races longer and trickier. Racing was close and Georgetown just passed Navy by a few points in the final races.

Congrats to Georgetown for winning the 2022 Robert P. Arrigan Memorial Regatta.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
