Charleston Spring

Summary

Saturday, March 12:

Too much wind…. No racing

Sunday, March 13:

Northerly breeze persisted throughout the morning and into the afternoon allowing us to get 8 races in. The current was in line with the wind so there were very few OCS boats and the moderate winds allowed for a quick turnover between fleets. Sailors in both divisions that hit the shifts and got off the line clean found success. Conditions became variable later in the day as the sea breeze started to fight the northerly. In these conditions it was a matter of staying in the breeze and making sure your boat was consistently trimmed for whatever mother nature threw at you. We had two protests heard by Alli Blumenthal of Coast Guard and Kevin Jewett of CofC. Boats were dsq'd in both. Thanks to Morgan Collins from ODU for her help as the ICSA Rep. The hosts managed to pull off the win with a strong performance in B Div by freshman Charlie McKenzie and Grace Beard. We are so pleased to have had teams from across the country at this years event snd look forward to hosting another strong event in 2023.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
