Owen/Mosbacher/Knapp Trophies

Frustrating day on Granite Bay due to lack of wind. Only 4 races in each division were sailed. A Division sailed FJ's While B Division sailed Z420's Racing began at 1pm and two races were sailed in a light southeasterly before the wind shut off and the fleet sailed in for a late lunch. About an hour and a half later the breeze filled from the south and two more races were sailed. All races were course W4's. After an early general recall the I flag was flown the rest of the day. Racing was close and tactical. One protest was filed resulting in a DSQ. Divisions will switch fleets on Sunday morning and the first race is scheduled for 10am warning. Teams to park at YCYC on Sunday no earlier than 9am are: Bow, BU, Br, CC, Cor, CGA, D, H, SBU, UPenn. The remaining teams will report directly to RJ Shore no earlier than 9am and walk over. See you all on Easter Sunday!!

What a difference a day makes! Nine races were completed in both divisions in a fantastic WSW breeze ranging from 5-15 knots but mostly 10-12 knots. Very few mark changes were necessary which enabled the RC to crank out races. All races were W4's with the I Flag flying. B Division sailed four races in the morning and then sailed in for lunch while A Division sailed six races before lunch with both division completing nine races for the day. Yale Bulldogs 2 had a great battle with the Brown Bears for the Ivy League Championship with the Bulldogs prevailing even after a fantastic day by Brown sailors Megan Grapengeter-Rudnick and Haley Carter who won five of the nine races sailed today! One redress was filed which was denied. Many thanks to KB Knapp and Patrick Buehler for staffing the RC Boat, Chase Skoda for scoring and land logistics and Caleb Dorfman for judging. Also, thanks go out to Stan Schreyer of BU for being the regatta rep and to Conn College for loaning some equipment. Only two boats hit half tide rock (even though it was marked) with one of those boats also colliding with starboard tack boats twice between races today. We'll send you the bill Ken;)
