Freshman Icebreaker

Summary

Saturday, March 25:

Teams reported to the Notre Dame Boathouse in the rain around 9 am. Racing was postponed due to lightning, but the storm cleared up and boats were launched at 10:45. Eight races were sailed in the A division and six in the B division. The race course was a mixture of W2s, 3s, and 4s depending on how race committee felt. The wind was unusually strong and consistent for St. Joe’s, hanging out around 10-12 knots from the East. Two breakdowns were reported, one of which received redress. Racing will resume tomorrow with race 7B.

Sunday, March 26:

Once all teams were accounted for, racing began in the rain with the B division. Four races were sailed in the B division and two in the A division. All races sailed were W2s due to the much slower wind speeds compared to Saturday. The last race finished around noon. Overall scores were extremely close and came down to the last race. Congratulations to Michigan for coming out on top, and thank you to everyone who came out and enjoyed sailing under the permacloud.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
