The NWICSA Women's Championship Qualifiers was hosted on beautiful Bellingham Bay. The morning saw a steady and relatively light 5-10 knot breeze that strengthened throughout the day. The wind came from the south spilling over the city of Fairhaven causing the upper portion of the course to be puffy. Knowing when a puff was a true header or velocity shift made all the difference. As the wind built to a steady 10-15 knots all the women's boats had to work hard to stay flat and fight through the bay's choppy water.
A double round robin was completed on Saturday concluding the event. UW's A skipper Lily Grimshaw kept an impressive lead with 1st place finishes and claimed the winning title for her team. WWU placed 2nd.
The event was completed on Saturday. No races were sailed.
