Racing for South Points #5 at Jacksonville University began at 9:45 in light southwest to south-southwesterly breeze. The prompt first start was inspired by a dismal forecast and radar images showing rapidly approaching thunderstorms. The breeze improved by the first rotation but rain showers were increasing. When the thunderstorms arrived, a postponement was necessary as the wind died, then increased just enough to complete one last race before dying completely. The tide was steadily ebbing for the entire regatta. Three races per division were completed. Courses were windward leeward, two or four legs, and gates. No protests were filed. A special thanks to our outstanding race support staff who did a fantastic job. Thanks also to the seven teams in attendance and to their awesome coaches. Despite the tough conditions, everyone was in great spirits and made the best of a difficult day. Congratulations to the Florida Gators, winners of the regatta.
