Army Spring Open

Summary

Saturday, April 27:

Teams were greeted to the Caufield Crew and Sailing Center on Saturday morning with sunny skies and light winds. Winds averaged between 3-6 knots of wind out of the north for most of the day. A strong flood current played havoc on the fleets most of the day. Six races were finished in A fleet and B fleet was able to get off four races before winds completely died and the current made sailing impossible around 1500. Sailing was cancelled for the day at 1600 with no sign of conditions improving.

Sunday, April 28:

Racing resumed Sunday around 1030 after waiting for a light southerly to fill in. Strong currents and light wind once again made the starts and mark roundings challeging. A slight delay after Race 6B allowed for the course to be reset as winds built out of the South to around 10 knots. The final four races provided the best conditions of the weekend. A full rotation for the regatta, 16 races in all, was completed around 1400. Congratulations to Ocean County for winning the 2013 Army Spring Open.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
