80th Boston DinghyCup

Summary

Saturday, March 28:

Saturday: The 80th Boston Dinghy Club Cup started late with a light easterly in the morning, building to 6-8 knots and becoming more south-easterly in the early afternoon. At about 3pm, fog rolled in, breeze increased to about 10-12 knots and temps dropped into the 40's.

PRO's Franny Charles (MIT) and Mike O'Connor (Harvard) were assisted by BU Sailing Team volunteers and scorers. Breakdowns were handled by the MIT Sailing staff of Wally Corwin, Conan Hom, Greg Dolan, and Patrick Joyce.

Judges Greg Kielty, John Pratt, Kerry Sullivan, and Leo Berendes judged on the water and heard 3 protests, resulting in 2 DSQ's and 1 RAF.

Sunday: Wind was northeasterly at 12-14 knots in the morning, ultimately dying to 3-5 knots and swinging north for the last few races with rain all day.

Judges Greg Kielty, John Pratt, and Kerry Sullivan were on the water all day in the rain and cold to keep things fair. BU students again volunteered for scoring and Harvard coaches Mike O'Connor and Bernie Noack served as PRO's along with MIT Sailing Master Franny Charles.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
