Nickerson Trophy

Summary

Saturday, October 25:

A full slate of 10 races in each division were completed on day 1 of the Nickerson. A huge thanks to Patrick Mulcahy '23, Alex Talbott '22, and all the Jumbo undergrads for their hard work keeping racing going in shifty conditions.

Sunday, October 26:

After some wind delays throughout the day while the RC waited for the breeze to consistently remain above 4 knots, the final 4 races in each division were completed.

Unfortunately, a technical difficulty in the finish boat led to a scoring error in race 13B. Without sufficient information to accurately rebuild the scores as completed, the PRO and OA made the decision to abandon the race and re-sail it immediately after the conclusion of 14B. Redress was filed by two boats. With limited coaches present and nearly all considered parties to the protest, the decision was made to hold the hearing remotely at a later date with a committee of formal judges, also allowing for all affected boats to be present in the hearing. Upon conclusion of the hearing, the request for redress was denied. Thank you to ICSA Executive Director Peter Fanta for his work in putting together the hearing and a big thank you to alumni PROs Patrick and Alex for giving up not only their weekend time to help run the event, but also their weeknight time to participate in the redress hearing.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
