The river welcomed almost no wind on Saturday. Gusts of 3-5 knots would come in and quickly disappear into nothing. The RC with Northeastern sailing alumni Maarten Eenkema van Dijk as PRO was able to start an B and C race around 11am, abandoning the C race and finishing B division. Boats were sent in and postponement was announced. This story happened many times throught the day with RC being able to finish 2 B races and 1 C race in total. The day was called around 3:30pm and teams were told to go home for the day.
There were no protests or requests for redress today.
Thanks to Maarten (alumni) and Abby (current sailor) for working start boat. Rob and Becker (alumni) for finish boat, and Ben (current sailor) for working mark boat.
Looking forward to more wind tomorrow, we will try to get in as many races as possible.
The breeze was constant from the west all day averaging around 3-5 knots.
Maarten and the Race Committee were able to start on time at 10am and finish racing on time with a last start right before 3pm. 8 races total were sailed per division for the regatta with all 8 in A being sailed today.
One breakdown heard, with MIT's C boat being granted a breakdown score for race 7C.
Thanks to all the volunteers, northeastern alumni, current sailor's and most importantly the MIT dock staff. We are thankful to host this regatta and celebrate our relationship with MIT and MIT sailing.
