MAISA Northeast Series #1

Summary

Sunday, September 8:

Fall came early for the Northeast Qualifier # 1 in Port Jefferson today. The sun was bright, but there was a chill to the air. The breeze also delivered, with a steady WNW 10-12 all day and gusts into the high teens by the afternoon. 8 boats competed in a combined division format on a W4 course. Racing started around 10:15am and 5 races were completed before a lunch break. Racing resumed at 1:15pm and 5 more races were completed by the 2:45pm. Conditions got a bit sporty in the afternoon with some big gusts rolling down the course and a few capsizes ensued. Teams handled the challenging conditions very well. Congratulations to SBU for sweeping the top 3 places and the overall regatta win! Big thank you to the Army Sailing Team for for coming down and racing with us! Also, thank you to alumnus Gerrit Bittmann'24 for volunteering his Sunday to be our RC and run some great races!

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
