Lake Virginia Invitational

Summary

Saturday, October 19:

A beautiful day on Lake Virginia, home of the Rollins Tars. Windspeed varied from 5-13kts averaging 9kts for the day across eight races in both A and B divisions. Breeze for the day stayed directionally stable from the NE with the course having to be realigned only twice between sets. W3 and W4 courses were sailed averaging just over sixteen minutes in length. One BKD and one DNF were scored on the day. Zero protests were filed. Jacksonville Dolphins hold the top spot with a margin of eight points over USF Bulls Women going into the second day of racing.

Sunday, October 20:

Another glamour day out on Lake Virginia. Breeze had large shifts left and right but stayed out of the NNE direction for the day. Lake Virginia provided textbook variance in breeze velocity with lulls getting down to 6kts while gusts reached up to 12kts, averaging 9kts for much of the day. The fleet capped off the regatta with two A/B division sets today using both W4 and W5 courses averaging twenty minutes in length. One team of competitors RAF with a Rule 10 infraction.

Congratulations to Jacksonville University for the 1-2 sweep along with USF Bulls Women rounding out the podium in third at SAISA’s Non-ACC Showcase.

Big thank you to all Tars who supported the regatta management from shore. A thank you to Dave Herbster, for running mark-set, and Esteban Forrer, as PRO.

Safe travels home to all competitors. We hope to see you again next year along with additional cross-regional representation.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
