Intrepid Trophy - MAISA Match Race Championship

Competitors were greeted by a gusty northerly that would end up gradually clocking right throughout the day albeit with many periods of consistent and significant oscillations that helped make things interesting.

Two round robins composed of interesting and competitive races were quickly banged out, with Georgetown emerging as the clear #1 seed with an undefeated record going into the finals. A third round robin was planned but, with USMMA mathematically eliminated from finals consideration after the second round, RC opted to go right to the big showdown between USNA and GTN.

Congratulations to the U.S. Naval Academy Midshipmen who turned it on just in time to sweep the finals and emerge as the 2024 MAISA Match Race Champions! Best of luck to them at Nationals.

Many thanks to umpires Sam Hahn and Paul Gilman for spending the day with us keeping things fair, to the KP Team members that were volun-told to act as regatta staff, and to the KP Waterfront staff that stayed ready to assist with the breakdowns that thankfully did not happen.
