2018 PCCSC Match Race Championship

Very light and variable breeze along with incredibly choppy conditions from the HB Air Show caused for racing delays throughout the day. Breeze finally settled to the south and allowed for 3 flights of the round robin to be completed.

A southerly wind held all day to complete the single round robin and sail a first to 2 point final and petit final. Racing was light and super choppy all day due to the Huntington Beach Air Show. In the petit final Cal Poly beat Santa Barbara 2-1. The final featured a close series with Cal Maritime vs. Stanford. After tying it up 1-1 race 3 saw both boats over early and Stanford with a penalty. Stanford passed at the 1st mark and lead on the 2nd upwind but a slow penalty kill and windshift put CMA back ahead. Stanford then passed again at the 2nd upwind Mark and lead to the finish. Thanks to Balboa Yacht Club and congrats to Stanford who will advance to the nationals in a few weeks.
