MCSA Sloop Championship

Summary

Friday, September 18:

The event was held 9/19-20.

Saturday, September 19:

Winds of 22+ with a little rain greeted the sailors. The first race was sailed at 10 am, but the wind continued to build with gusts in the 28-30 knot range and sailing was postponed. After a lunch break the winds gradually subsided to the 20 knot range and the second race was started. Only one capsize resulted. This resulted in the fleet being reduced to 4 boats for the remaining 4 races. Racing was concluded at about 5:30 with 6 races completed.

Sunday morning found the winds in the 6-8 knot range. which made going up against the 5 knot current challenging. The 7th race saw the wind drop out just enough that only 2 of the 5 boats were able to finish in the time limit. The wind came up enough to finish off the remaining 3 races to complete the double round-robin.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
