Philly Fleet Race

Summary

Saturday, October 4:

Today brought a variety of conditions, from rainy and 8 to partly sunny and 15. We got 16 races done, 8 in each division and will shoot for another 2-3 sets in each division tomorrow. Thanks to the Penn alum Mark Penny for flawlessly executing PRO duties with help from Karl Grunewald and Art Bell from Corinthian Yacht Club. Also thanks to the Corinthian members for the hot dogs and cookies.

Sunday, October 5:

Today brought great wind, primarily from the west in the 8-12 range with only one slight lull. We had several shifts which necessitated realigning the course, but they were handled with a minimum of delay. Lots of sailors were able to race in the 12 races - full double rotation) that we had and everyone had fun and sailed cleanly. There were no protests because the teams took their penalties on the water.

Congratulations to the Drexel Dragons for winning the Philly Fleet Race and to the Penn Alumni and Corinthian Yacht Club for running a fine event. Everyone is looking forward to next year and an expanded fleet of 14-18 teams.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
