Virginia Invitational

Summary

Saturday, October 13:

After twenty races of sailing, the first day of the Virginia Invitational has been a success! Throughout the day, the breeze fluctuated between 2-6 knots, but overall Lake Anna provided for some unexpected conditions. Ninety degree oscillations kept the UVA admins busy with changing the course consistently during each set. The racers adapted well to the wind and shifts; by the end of the day, the University of Virginia holds the lead with 50 points. The second day of the Invitational will start promptly with the first race beginning at 10 AM. Good luck to all of our sailors!

Sunday, October 14:

Day two of the Virginia Invitational saw much steadier conditions than yesterday. The breeze in the morning was form the southwest at 6 knots. The breeze built steadily throughout the morning and by the end of the day the breeze was a steady 15-17 knots. The Virginia Wahoos maintained their lead over Stony Brook who was second and Maryland was third. William & Mary received team penalties for not signing RP forms and not having team pinnies. Thanks to all of the UVA sailors who helped make this regatta a success.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
