Chief Illiniwek Memorial Regatta

Summary

Saturday, October 6:

The regatta hit the ground running, with the wind blowing in the low to mid teens. The wind was a little shifty as it came over the lake, but all of the teams were able to stick through it, and sail very competitively. Along with the shifty wind, the cold temperatures posed another challenge, but thanks to the Commodore Decatur Yacht Club, we kept fires going, and we were able to keep all of the sailors warm.

Sunday, October 7:

The conditions on Sunday were very similar to those of Saturday, and competitors faced the same challenges. Due to the wind shifts, there were longer breaks between rotations, but the yacht club kept all of the competitors busy, and warm. Since most of the rotations were completed on Saturday, Sunday was a little more relaxed. Despite the difficult conditions, Northwestern was able to hold on to their lead from day 1, and clinched first place in all divisions. Congratulations to Northwestern, and we hope to see everyone out again next year.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
