Barnett Trophy

Summary

Saturday, October 6:

The Barnett Trophy is named after Nicholas Barnett '11 who was a member of the Bowdoin Sailing Team and passed away during Thanksgiving Break of his freshmen year. Nick enjoyed being a member of the team and getting on the water each day for practice. Nick made a big impression on the team.

The 2012 Barnett Trophy began in fantastic conditions with breeze out of the SSW at 10-15 with some higher gusts. A heavy flood tide made the current a major factor for most of the racing. 10 races were completed in each division. All courses were W-4s. A big thanks to Mike Komar from Salve for serving at the NEISA Rep and Mark Dinneen '08 for moving marks and handling the scoring. The forecast for tomorrow is much lighter but we should be able to complete the regatta early.

Sunday, October 7:

Glassy conditions greeted sailors Sunday morning at Bethel Point. After a few hour delay, four races were sailed in a light SSE breeze. A big thanks to the Polar Bears that helped run the land ops including Olivia Diserio '16 and Elise Engquist '15. Thanks to Mark Dinneen '08 for moving marks and to the Barnett Family for all of their support this weekend.

Congrats to the Jumbos for winning the 2012 Barnett Trophy.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
