Men's NEISA Single's Champs

Summary

Saturday, October 8:

10 races were sailed today. Sailors left the dock in a dying westerly which eventually died. A SW sea breeze filled in just after 11:00am and built to 8-12 knots. 8 races were sailed in these perfect conditions. The breeze slowly died and shifted right. Two more races were sailed in this breeze of about 4-6 knots with larger shifts. We had two general racalls and a few individual recalls. Meredith Killion and Kerry Sullivan were the judges for the day. They flagged 3 sailors during starts and one at the weather mark for rule 42 violations. 2 Protests were filed which resulted in one being disallowed and one DSQ. Many thanks to the Niantic Bay Yacht Club and Club Members Ken and Olivia Shluger and Chris Vann for mark boat duty.

Sunday, October 9:

6 races were sailed on Niantic Bay today starting at 1130am in an 8 knot westerly which became unstable during the first two races. A long lunch break allowed the sailors to watch the westerly fight the southerly for a couple hours. When the southerly finally won race 13 was completed. Race 14 was abandon as the southerly died and began to fight the westerly again. The RC took the fleet out to the center of the bay to find the best westerly. Race 14 went off in an 8 knot westerly and as the last of the fleet crossed the line a 10-12 knot southerly filled and races 15 and 16 were completed as the breeze died to about 6 knots. Two yellow flags were thrown for rule 42 violations at the start. No protests or breakdowns were filed today. Thanks again to Meredith Killion and Kerry Sullivan for judging and Scott Leppert for doing mark boat duty. Congratulations to Cam Cullman, Yale 2013 for winning the NEISA Men's Singlehanded Championship for the second consecutive year. Congratulations also to Colin Smith, Brown '13, Lucas Adams, Brown '15 and Michael Zonnenberg, UVM '15 for qualifying for the ICSA Singlehanded Championship in Chicago, IL.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
