Stony Brook Cup

Summary

Saturday, March 25:

Teams were welcomed to Port Jefferson with bagels from Swarthmore Bagels, glassy conditions and relatively mild temperatures. We postponed a bit on shore and sent the fleet out around 10:30am to try to take advantage of what seemed to be a building northerly. That northerly did not stay and extremely challenging conditions ensued, with the wind shifting all across the dial. Finally, it settled in from the ENE at about 6-10 knots. 6 races were completed per division. Teams then enjoyed a wonderful food spread after racing, also provided by Swarthmore Bagels. The breeze looks like it will be a bit steadier tomorrow, so we are hopeful that forecast pans out.

Sunday, March 26:

It was a cold, raw day on the water. 3 more races per division were completed in a very shifty SE breeze ranging from 3-10 knots. Stony Brook edged out Stevens on a tie breaker to take the win. Thank you to all the teams who participated and to all of the members of the SBU Sailing Team who helped throughout the weekend!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
