SAISA Team Race Championship

The start of the 2014 SAISA Team Race Championship was postponed due to the closure of the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge during the Cooper River Bridge Run. Teams reported promptly at 1300 and rode the ebb tide over to Crab Bank shortly thereafter. A light westerly clocked to the sea breeze direction and increased in velocity while the Race Committee re-configured the course. Three round robins were completed in 8-12 knots and choppy conditions.

Congratulations to the College of Charleston Cougars and the University of South Florida Bulls for advancing to the 2014 Team Race Nationals hosted by the St. Mary’s College of Maryland. Thank you to the Charleston undergrads for running the event and the veteran team of umpires led by Jeff Borland, Ben Spector ‘13, Sam Stokes ‘12, Brooks Clark ‘13, George Prieto, and Ben Whitman. In addition, thank you to USF and Eckerd for attending during a boisterous weekend in the Holy City.
