Pere Marquette

Summary

Saturday, October 1:

Teams reported to the Milwaukee Yacht Club at 8:30 to overcast skies. Worried about an approaching front, race committee postponed until the rain passed. Boats were launched around 1000 and the first race proceeded around 1100. Six races were sailed in A division and 4 races were sailed in B division in light rain. The W2 course was used featuring a modified windward/leeward with a gate below the line and an upwind finish. The breeze was a relatively steady 8kn northerly. Races averaged about twenty minutes to allow rotation boats to transit the harbor. Three breakdowns were reported and received redress. One protest was heard resulting in a DSQ. Big thanks to the Milwaukee Yacht Club for helping out with breakdowns and our PROs Steve Dolan and Willy Rozanski.

Sunday, October 2:

Competitors got on the water early on Sunday to make up for postponement early Saturday. B division started the day with a first race at 1000 and sailed a total of four races. A division sailed two races. The same W2 course was used but was moved in front of the art museum to avoid other regattas using the harbor. The wind was quite shifty from the west around 5kn. The last race finished around 1230. There were no protests or breakdowns. Thanks again to our Race Committee Steve Dolan and Willy Rozanski. Congratulations to Minnesota for winning the Pere Marquette Cup and to Wisconsin and Wisconsin-Milwaukee for rounding out the podium.

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
