Central Fall Qualifier

Summary

Saturday, September 24:

Saturday dawned grey and overcast with temperatures in the 60s and a few rain showers in the area. Breeze was from the NNE at 6-10 knots with gusts to 15 early in the morning. Racing began right on time with PRO Skip Swikart blowing the first whistles at 9:45. Races proceeded smoothly despite the 2 knot right to left current across the course and the occasional big wind shifts out of the right side of the course. Kings Point and Navy came out with bad intent and are dominating the regatta to this point. We will start with race 6B tomorrow morning.

Sunday, September 25:

Sunday was bright and sunny with a 5-7 knot N breeze coming right over the club. The races started at 9:20 with a slight flood tide across the course. We got through race 8B despite big oscillating shifts of 25 or more degrees to both sides of the mean breeze. During race 9A, the breeze completely shut off after the leaders finished. As a result despite the valiant efforts of our race committee, no further races could be completed in a manner fair to all of the teams. Thanks to the Villanova undergrads for helping out on the race committee duties and to Skip Swikart for serving as PRO. Congrats to KP for winning the regatta, and to Navy, Princeton, and Stevens for also qualifying.

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
