Central Fall Open

Summary

Saturday, October 17:

Sailors arrived to the Truslow Boathouse to a blustery fall day with NW wind 10-12 with gusts to 15. The Chester River provided its usual gauntlet of conditions for the first set as a strong outgoing tide and 20 degree shifts provided challenging conditions for both sailors and committee. General recalls forced an early I-flag in the first race for A Division. Following the completion of 4A, the wind settled in from the W with a steady 8-12. The wind began to ease as the day went on. 8A and 6B division races were completed for the day. W4's and W5's were sailed in each division. No protests or breakdowns were filed.

B division will start first, 9 AM report time on Sunday.

Sunday, October 18:

Teams arrived Sunday morning to sunny skies and a very shifty W-NW breeze at 8-12 knots. The Chester River provided a hefty share of oscillations early, causing dramatic course changes for the first 4 races before settling in from the west. Smaller oscillations occurred, and races were able to run at a steadier pace. With the wind coming predominately from the west, the wind dropped to 6-9 knots. The current factored into racing for much of the day, forcing two general recalls in each fleet despite an I-flag.

A mix of W4's and W5's were sailed. 6 B-Division and 4 A-Division races were completed for the day. Congratulations to St. Mary's for winning the Central Fall Open!

Score history

The following chart shows the relative rank of the teams as of the race indicated. Note that the races are ordered by number, then division, which may not represent the order in which the races were actually sailed.

The first place team as of a given race will always be at the top of the chart. The spacing from one team to the next shows relative gains/losses made from one race to the next. You may hover over the data points to display the total score as of that race.
