35th Yale Women's Intersectional

Summary

Saturday, October 18:

Competitors arrived at YCYC at 9:30 to a building Southerly. By the time the first A race started the course had 10-12 knots and a difficult but fun waves. Course's today were course 4's and 0ne course 5 just outside the cove. By the end of the day the waves were large enough and the breeze was strong enough to have great rides downwind. As the RC was trying to get the last B race off, the wind abruptly shifted from the SSW at 12-14 knots to NNW at 12-14 knots. Yale leads at the end of day 1. Many thanks to Connecticut College for the use of two coach boats and to Stan Schreyer for being the ICSA rep. One protest was heard resulting in a DSQ.

Sunday, October 19:

B Division stated the day in Z420's in a strong Northwesterly. Six more races were sailed on W4's and 5's. By the time the last two races were stated in each division the wind had increased to 18 knots with puffs in the 20's. There were a few spectacular wipe-outs but mostly the sailors were in very good control. One sailor become ill and was unable to sail. Yale supplied a fill in crew. Again, thanks to Connecticut College for the boats and to Stan for being the Rep. Also, Doug Clark was a great help on the mark boat. There was one request for redress that was denied and one protest that resulted in a DSQ. At the End of the day, Yale wins the Yale Women's Intersectional.
