Shields Trophy

Summary

Saturday, September 15:

Competition for the Shields Trophy first began in 1963. It is an offshore regatta held annually among the Service Academies. Nine teams competed in the 2012 event sailed in Navy 44 class boats. Saturday brought clear skies and a shifty NW breeze of 12-16 knots. Four double windward-leeward races, each lasting about 1 hour, were completed.

Sunday, September 16:

On Sunday, the high pressure settled in the region and winds dropped to 5 knots. However one additional race was completed before races were called for the day.
